What it is

Mentor coaching is not advice.
It is observed practice.

Mentor coaching is a structured process in which a more experienced coach observes your recorded coaching sessions and provides feedback measured against the ICF Core Competencies. It is not supervision, consulting, or general mentoring. It is a specific professional development requirement with a defined standard.

The ICF requires a minimum of 10 hours of mentor coaching completed over at least three months. At least 3 of those hours must be delivered one on one. The remaining hours may be completed in a group of no more than 10 participants. This requirement applies to portfolio path candidates pursuing ACC or PCC credentials, and to ACC holders seeking credential renewal.

What the ICF requires

Official requirements.

Mentor coaching is a required part of every ICF credential. Here is what the International Coaching Federation mandates.

Ten hours of mentor coaching is required for the ACC, PCC, and MCC credentials.

The ten hours must be completed over a minimum period of three months.

At least three of the ten hours must be delivered one on one.

The remaining hours may be completed in a group of no more than ten participants.

Your mentor coach must hold an active credential at or above the level you are pursuing. For the PCC, your mentor must hold a PCC or MCC.

For credential renewal, ACC coaches must complete another ten hours of mentor coaching each three year cycle, and those hours also count toward the forty continuing education units required for renewal.

I am an ICF Professional Certified Coach, which qualifies me to mentor coaches pursuing the ACC and the PCC, and coaches renewing the ACC.

Process

How it works.

01

Book a discovery call

A short conversation to confirm the engagement is the right fit and to answer any questions about the process or the ICF requirement.

02

Choose your package

Select the full requirement, individual hours only, or a group cohort seat based on what you still need to complete.

03

Submit a recorded session

Before each individual meeting, you submit a recording of a coaching session you conducted. This is the material we work from.

04

Receive written feedback

After each session you receive written competency feedback mapped to the ICF Core Competencies, plus your completion documentation.
